Lake Tahoe Wildflower Hikes
Welcome to the website of the Tahoe Chapter of the Native Plant Society of California (CNPS). You have come to the right place if you are looking forward to enjoying Tahoe outdoors! With so many visitors here each summer, we have focused our web information on making your visit the best possible. With Great Basin desert to the east and the lush Central Valley to the west, Tahoe is an intersection of several ecosystems that contribute large number of wildflowers (native plants) for all to enjoy.
We have assembled information from several area resources to help you plan and organized your outdoor outings “Events”. You will also find the hiking trails where the flowers are peaking listed here. Be sure and check this section often, as the flower season at Tahoe is short and intense. If you prefer to go it alone, check out our recommended “Trail Info”. If you want to know more about what you are seeing, go to our photo gallery to identify some wildflowers or just enjoy the extraordinary photography of our members. If you want send us your best flower pictures…we may post them in the feature flower page.
Our CNPS members love to spend their time wandering the Sierra Mountains. And while our focus is mainly wildflowers, we really enjoy almost everything about the out of doors. So if you love the majesty of our tallest trees or the delicate beauty of our mosses and lichens, let us know. We will be happy to share our joy of nature with you.
